Universal Hydrogen Successfully Completes First Flight of Hydrogen Regional Airliner
Universal Hydrogen flew a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion. One of the engines on the ATR was replaced with a fuel cell-electric powertrain. On the second pass over the airport the fossil fuel turbine was throttled back to idle, leaving the hydrogen fuel cell to provide propulsion for that portion of flight.
